Highland GM drives for a cause

The staff at Highland GM believe in giving back to the community. Throughout the year, the dealership and staff participate in a number of fundraising initiatives that benefit local charities and organizations.

At the end of November, Highland GM finished their “Drive for a Cause” campaign. Throughout the campaign, for every test drive taken, $25 was donated to the Aurora Food Pantry.

According to a survey taken by the Ontario Association of Food Banks, 412,998 individuals accessed Ontario food banks in March 2012 and 38.7 per cent of them were children. With such high usage, 19.2 per cent of food banks ran out of nutritious food during the month. The survey also showed that demand is higher this year than it was in 2012. In fact, food bank use in Ontario is at an all time high and donations are needed more than ever.

As the holidays near, the demand will increase. That’s why Highland GM felt it was important to support the Aurora Food Pantry at this time of year. Everyone who is able is encouraged to make a donation.

The Aurora Food Pantry is located at 350 Industrial Parkway South and is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the second and fourth Thursday of every month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. To learn more about how you can help or if you need to use the food bank, please call 905-841-1577.
