‘Green’ not just a trend in L.A.

The L.A. Auto Show was a showcase of eco-friendly motoring.

If California was a country, it would be the greenest country in the world.

In hotel rooms there are big, strident notices about not using a lot of water and keeping the same towel – for days if possible.

In front of the hotels and on the streets it was wall-to-wall Toyota Prius taxis. The Prius, by the way, is the biggest selling car in California. At this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show, the breadth and width of green cars, trucks and bicycles was amazing even to me after all this years.

I actually felt guilty of asking WheelsTalk’s Neil Moore to cover green and I would do the rest.

Yes there were global reveals of new “normal” cars like the Kia Forte/Sorento, Honda Civic and VW Beetle Convertible. But green wasn’t just a theme in LA, it was a mantra.

Neil’s and my stories from the LA Auto Show are here on WheelsTalk but I urge to check out Neil’s two green pieces.

Trends start in LA but what I saw was not a trend. It is the future.
