Yes, I did blog about Gymkhana videos a few short weeks ago, but Ken Block has just released his latest: Gymkhana Five. And it really deserves a shout out.
This one is shot on the streets of San Francisco, giving you a high-speed tour from the financial district to the docks. All without a person or vehicle in sight – except for the occasional streetcar, dirt bike and forklift, strategically positioned for doing doughnuts.
The first couple of minutes are okay, but the entertainment value grows quickly – in particular when Ken Block is performing jump drifts over the city’s famed (and very steep) roadways.
Block’s car, by the way, is the same one featured in Gymkhana Four, a Hybrid Function Hoon Vehicle (HFHV).
A what?
The HFHV is, in reality, a highly adaptable WRC Ford Fiesta hatchback race car, with a turbocharged 2.0-litre four cylinder engine that pumps out a whopping 600 hp and 665 lb/ft of torque. In a car this small, it’ll not only light up the tires at will, but can go from rest to 60 mph in 1.8 seconds.
